Shoe Review – Brooks Pure Cadence 2

In the development of the Pure range, Brooks decided to spend a bit more time on their lightweight alternative before delivering it to the highly competitive marketplace.. and it shows! The Brooks Pure Cadence 2 is the perfect shoe for that person looking for the minimalist running experience that still provides decent cushioning and durability.
For a lightweight shoe it feels very soft under foot, feeling similar to a Nike LunarGlide, without losing the responsiveness most runners desire. The 4mm heel drop encourages the runner to shift the contact point more forward towards the forefoot giving the feeling of a traditional minimalist shoe. The Pure Cadence 2 has a specialised pod placed under the medial arch of the foot (Progressive Diagonal Roll Bar) that is designed to delay over pronation but is by no means a motion control shoe. The midsole is a combination of DNA (found in Brook’s traditional runners) and BioMoGo and is designed to an anatomical fit with a sagittal flex groove between the 1st and 2nd toe to encourage smoother heel to toe transition. The upper is roomy yet firm and allows excellent comfort when running. The main changes from the original shoe is a new wrapping tongue and an offset lacing pattern to enhance the fit of the upper to the foot.Brooks have got it right with this shoe as it provides some key features to facilitate gait changes without lacking support or cushioning. For those runners who cannot run in a racing flat due to heel or foot soreness but want to experience the minimalist feel when running, this is a great option for you!
