The Best Running Shoes of 2021 so far!
As we enter 2021, many of our favourites have had a facelift and as such, it is time to take you through our Top 5 current running shoes for 2021! Stay tuned for another update later in the year which will focus on some of the top carbon running shoes that have been released and road-tested!
Hoka One One Bondi 7
Want to experience walking or running on a pillow?? Then look no further! The Hoka Bondi 7 is Hoka’s most cushioned road-shoe which delivers a smooth, balanced ride over any distance.
The rocker sole on the Bondi creates a smooth transition from heel contact to toe off. It is surprisingly light, weighing only 303g (weight may vary on size) and is a great shoe for anyone with a forefoot condition requiring some offloading, the individual who walks or runs a lot wanting max cushioning or the runner who clocks up serious kilometres!
There is a reason why this is one of Hoka’s most popular shoes and why it's number one for MPC!
Brooks Ghost 13
The Brooks Ghost, now in its 13th model combines a lightweight design with optimal cushioning better than most neutral shoes on the market! It’s midsole boasts Brook’s DNA loft technology providing max cushioning throughout each phase of the gait cycle whilst the deep heel counter provides exceptional ankle support and enough room to accommodate an orthotic!
Brooks Adrenaline GTS21
Brooks most popular shoe, the Adrenaline GTS 21 is designed for the individual requiring rear/midfoot support under the arch. It provides a cushioned experience from heel to toe off and comes in various widths to accommodate wide to narrow feet. The guide rail support system which Brooks now adopts in their supportive shoes still provides exceptional arch support but now makes the shoe lighter overall compared to older models which utilised a dual density support system. I personally run in these and can’t get enough of them!
Asics Kayano 27
The trusty Kayano by Asics has had some major facelifts in its last few models which is now in its 27th version. The previous model fit on the narrower side which Asics have addressed. It is now more cushioned at the heels via more gel to create a smooth landing experience during heel contact, the forefoot rubber is lighter and durable to provide optimal shock absorption. It's still one of the go-to shoes globally for individuals who require the arch support at the rear/midfoot but now with more cushioning and greater stability!
Mizuno Wave Rider 24
The Mizuno Wave Rider 24 is one of Mizuno’s most popular shoes providing optimal ankle support through its deep heel counter. It delivers a completely new construction featuring their latest MIZUNO ENERZY technology, making this running shoe 10% softer and 20% more responsive compared to its predecessor which is perfect for your shorter runs, gym work or for your longer runs!
These are the top 5 runners for 2021 so far!. Honourable mentions go to the Saucony Ride, Brooks Glycerin, Hoka Arahi 5 and New Balance 880.
Stay tuned for the next segment which will discuss the 5 top carbon shoes on the market!
