Do I need a referral?
If you are a private patient you DO NOT need a referral letter to be treated by our podiatrists. However if you are on an Enhanced Primary Care program you will need a written referral from your GP.
What do I need to bring?
Depending on the nature of your presenting complaint, you may need to bring along some items to the consultation.
For example, if you have had past history of foot and ankle pain and have had x-rays, been fitted with orthotic devices previously or have medical reports that describe your condition, these will all be of benefit to your treating podiatrist. Obviously, if you have a referral from your General Practitioner, Medical Specialist or Allied Health Practitioner then you need to bring this along.
- Referral letter and / or medical reports
- Private health fund card
- Previous orthotics / insoles
- X-rays, ultrasounds, CT and MRI scans
- Old footwear that may have specific wear patterns
- A selection of your regular footwear
- Appropriate clothing for foot and lower limb assessment
We request that your fee is paid at the time of the consultation. We accept cash, cheques, or credit cards and have EFTPOS and HICAPS facilities.
HICAPS is Australia’s leading ancillary health claims and payments service, providing payment and settlement facilities to over 36 Australian health funds and more than 40,000 health care providers.
All patients with chronic conditions such as diabetes, arthritis, vision impairment, heart disease etc are eligible for medicare rebates for standard podiatry visits through the Medicare system. You will need to see your General Practitioner and ask for a Team Care Arrangement (TCA) referral.
This will involve a longer than normal consultation at your GP’s practice, so please advise them in advance about the nature of your visit.
