I visited last week for a small procedure, super positive experience from start to finish. Brain was my podiatrist and I highly recommend him. Everyone at the clinic is so kind, professional and reassuring throughout the whole appointment. I also really appreciated being able to get a late-night appointment. The clinic itself is incredibly clean and modern. Couldn’t recommend Brian and the clinic more.Posted on Google

We had a very good experience at Melbourne Podiatry. I took my daughter to see Brian because she kept having ankle pain after playing badminton. On the first visit, Brian seemed to know what was the core issue and sent her for an x-ray. The result of the xray showed that what he suspected was true and then he recommended some exercises to address the issue. I really appreciate his experience and would recommend anyone that has foot issue to see Brian.Posted on Google

I highly recommend Conleth McShane at Melbourne Podiatry Clinic in Essendon. This was my first visit, and I left feeling fantastic after a small procedure. Conleth was friendly, professional, and took the time to explain everything clearly, which immediately put me at ease. His warm personality, smiling Irish eyes, and charming Irish accent made the whole experience even more enjoyable. A wonderful first impression, and I’ll certainly be returning.Posted on Google

A very positive experience - first appointment identified and rectified a toe nail problem. Follow up visit a few months later was for check-in and ongoing monitoring and (if necessary) adjustment. I will continue on this positive proactive plan. 👍🏻Posted on Google

Mia was the best and kindest podiatrist I’ve ever seen. She took the time to work with me and even made me feel less anxious then when I first walked in. I highly recommend you go here for podiatrist as it’s very worth it! I would absolutely always go back and I really appreciate how much Mia cares for her job and is the best at her job. The service by this clinic has been outstanding. I have had achilles pain for a while due to a sports injury, and my GP has not been helpful. The physio, advice and care I have received have helped my foot heal. I am now almost fully recovered! Annisia was just fabulous. Very competent and I am on the way back to high level sports as I used to, which is priceless. Thank you so much!Posted on Google

I’ve been to see Annisa twice and the service has been fantastic - insightful, meticulous diagnosis and practical interventions that I’m following. My running issue is getting better and since starting to see her I’ve referred a friend and my wife. Also, sports podiatrists are different to regular podiatrists ! The clinic is really well appointed with a gym area and running machines so they can film your running so as to advise you on running gait etc. Highly recommend.Posted on Google

Matilda from Malvern East clinic is very thorough, knowledgeable, professional, efficient and friendly - all you want from your medical treating practitioner. I have had a couple of appointments and I have been very happy with the care I received for my plantar fasciitis. Matilda took the time to do a comprehensive assessment and explained exactly what was causing my heel pain. Strapping, targeted stretching exercises, advice on correct type of footwear - all this was carefully explained and then followed up by detailed emails. I have faith and trust that under Matilda’s care I will get back to my pain free walking. Thank you, MatildaPosted on Google

3-4 years ago I unexpectedly developed plantar fasciitis issues. My 1-2 appointments with Maddie F. were excellent and fairly priced. Asked me questions to determine factors. Then strapped my foot in a way that lead to immediate comfort and pain relief. Provided tailored advice, practical exercises and footwear recommendations. Referral to nearby radiologist and then follow up emails during following months. Thanks Maddie!Posted on Google

Conleth McShane and Chris Horstman have been helping me on my journey to fix my feet and hip issues. Both explain everything in detail, and answer any questions I may have. I would recommend them both for physio and podiatry concerns :)

FAQs about Podiatry
Questions? Read our FAQs below.
What conditions do podiatrists typically treat?
Podiatrists are foot and ankle specialists who address a wide range of conditions, including:
- Foot pain: Plantar fasciitis, heel pain, arch pain, forefoot and toe pain
- Sports injuries: Heel pain, ankle sprains, stress fractures and achilles tendonitis
- Nail problems: Ingrown toenails, fungal infections and thickened toenails
- Skin concerns: Calluses, corns, warts and athlete’s foot,
- Deformities: Bunions, hammertoes, flat feet and high arches
- Diabetic foot care: Management and prevention of diabetic foot complications
Should I see a podiatrist for my foot pain, or can I try to treat it myself?
For minor foot pain that lasts a few days and improves with rest and home remedies (RICE – rest, ice, compression, elevation), self-care may be sufficient. However, if the pain is:
- Persistent (lasting longer than a few days)
- Worsens with activity
- Interferes with your daily life
- Accompanied by swelling, redness, or numbness
It’s advisable to consult a podiatrist for a proper diagnosis and treatment plan. Early intervention can prevent complications and promote faster healing.
What happens during a podiatry appointment?
A typical podiatry appointment involves a comprehensive evaluation of your feet and ankles, including:
- Medical history review: Comprehensive discussion around your medical history, current symptoms, and lifestyle factors
- Foot and ankle examination: Checking for any abnormalities, swelling, or tenderness including a dynamic assessment in our gym
- Gait analysis: Observing your walking pattern to assess potential biomechanical issues.
- Diagnostic tests (if needed): X-rays, ultrasounds, or other tests to confirm diagnosis.
Based on the examination, the podiatrist will recommend the most appropriate treatment plan.
What treatment options do podiatrists offer?
Podiatrists offer a variety of treatment options tailored to your specific condition. These may include:
- Conservative measures: Rest, ice, compression, elevation (RICE), medication
- Orthotics: Custom shoe inserts to improve foot function and alignment
- Taping: Techniques to support specific structures or promote healing
- Manual therapy: Shockwave therapy, dry needling, soft tissue massage and joint mobilisation
- Rehabilitation exercises: VALD strength testing and prescription of strengthening and mobility exercises
- Minimally invasive procedures: Nail surgery, injections: local anaesthetic, cortisone (depending on the condition)
- Surgery: In some cases, referral to surgery may be necessary to correct certain foot and ankle problems.
How much does podiatry care cost?
The cost of podiatric care varies depending on the service provided, the complexity of your condition, and your insurance coverage. Our clinic accepts both Medicare and health insurance and will provide you with an estimate of the cost of treatment upfront. Be sure to check with your insurance provider to understand your coverage for podiatric services. Read here for more information about eligibility for Medicare payments with podiatry.
